Norma was born on March 26, 1929 in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan. She found her first love in an Italian Immigrant, Angelo Blasetti, and they wed on October 8, 1949. Together, Norma and Angelo built a robust family totaling 7 children. A short six months after their youngest was born, tragedy struck and Angelo passed away leaving Norma with a nearly impossible task. This is a testament to her strength and adaptability that despite there only being one of her and seven of them, each night they were fed, clothed, and quite consumed in many activities and sports. She did all this with the salary of an Administrative Assistant, filling the role at a local school, St. Helena’s.
It was some time, well after her children had grown before she would marry Alec Caruth. They loved to travel together and made many memories. Norma enjoyed her time with family, and could play a mean game of crib.
Norma is survived by six of her children, Lorne (Eileen), David (Sylvia), Dina (Gerry), Cheryl (Dan), Ronald (Joey), and Noreen (Lorenz); her daughter-in-law Joyce; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband Angelo February 11, 1963, her second husband Alec in 2002 and her beloved son Dennis in 2015.
A Funeral Memorial Service will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in lieu of flowers.
