Pat was just so caring and had a special way of making everyone feel welcome into her family and life.  I am grateful to have known her and thankful for many good family memories I was lucky enough to share in over the years.  Condolences to Edda and Jay and the entire family.

The first time I met Pat, Is something I’ll never forget…
It was my first time at our churches women’s retreat, 2 years ago. I was a bit nervous about going, so I was thankful I knew everyone in my cabin... However, when we walked in, There was a cute little woman sitting on the bottom bunk with her bed already totally made and set up. We all introduced ourselves and one of the first things she mentioned was a common thread we shared from her past, and from my present. I told her I had to sit down and talk to her at some point that weekend, because I had so many questions.

It was nearing the end of the weekend, and I found my moment to grab her and sit down to chat finally.
The same thing happened this year at the women’s retreat. It was my last chance - I grabbed Pat and we reconnected over our common thread, and all my questions, and all her stories. We talked for hours.. 

The advice she shared is something I’ve since carried with me, but the biggest thing that stood out to me about Pat over these two short years of knowing her, and what I’ve learned from her, is her humility, her compassion, her sweetness, kindness, and the complete peace that resonated from her. Those qualities were her focus with every interaction in her life now. That is what I think of when I think of her, and that is how I will remember her.  

I am so thankful our paths crossed, there was no coincidence in that… I’ll miss her warm smiles, and chasing after her for hugs on Sundays, but it is very clear she found the narrow road, and I can’t wait to see her again someday soon, completely healed and made new.

Every time grandee came for a visit she brought profound happiness  I cherish all those memory's from my childhood with her camping at China beach , going to the movies , going to the lakes to go swimming , playing card games  you brought joy in times of struggle and sadness I'm sad to say goodbye ill never see you again the reality hasn't set in I've never lost someone before so this is new to me i heard your voice from a voicemail last night and that's when it hit me i truly wont hear your voice i wont see u again but that's okay life is about letting go when its time and i take solace in knowing your sweet kind soul is in a better place because you deserve it heavenly father and angels take care of her.

Back in the early 70's Pat and her 'littles' started attending church together with many who are now reading this. My parents often picked up Pat and the kids for sevices. There was lots of room for everyone in those big old cars...no car seats for kids...just laps!

As it turned out, everyone fell in 'love' with Pat. She was always smiling, happy, willing to help, and optimistic about life. Her smile, encouragement, intelligence, and positivness were her trademarks! She made friends with everyone and her life experiences always made for amazing conversations.

Years have passed but seeing her picture brought back lots of memories of her consistent positive outlook. She was, and continues to be, an inspiration for so many!

We enjoyed knowing your mom during the years we were all members of the same church fellowship. Her heart-warming personality, pleasant smile and gentle manner touched our lives and endeared us to her.  Her character made her as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside and her resilience and strength were amazing.  

We certainly appreciated her participation in our congregational choir plus the space she provided in her home for frequent rehearsals.  Your mom’s quiet manner of contributions and supportive leadership was commendable. 

Again, we are so sorry for your loss.  We know that you will cherish your mother’s wonderful memories forever.

So sorry for your loss to the entire family. I always enjoyed spending time with Pat and Roy and all the kids at their home in Calgary. I knew them through Roy’s niece Jamie David Lancaster and I was especially fond of the three oldest girls Michelle, Jennifer and Cheryl. It was with shock and sadness that I received the news of Pat's passing. Our connection goes back to 1973 and shared a lot of family activities and gatherings until we (Colombe,  Eric, Tamara, Collin and me) relocated to Ottawa in 1983. Over the passed few years we reconnected by Facebook. On behalf of my family, I do offer our sincere condolences to Pat's loving family and will keep the memory of her in our hearts.

We knew Pat for over 42 years within church circles and always remember her positive outlook on life , willing to look for changes hence to become a psychologist and help others , always looking for higher heights to climb with goals and ambitions - and reaching them and then always with a smile. Deepest condolences to the family for the loss of your dear Pat.  She  was a special kind loving friend during our years returning to University as adults - amidst all those young people  - when returning wasn’t as common as now.  Her smile was contagious and she was  a support and example of perseverance and commitment - to living out her values and goals.  And a great sense of humor!  Pat always spoke of her family with love and pride.

I am so sorry for your loss. Pat was one of my dearest friends who brought nothing but joy and kindness to everyone she met. I miss her terribly but I know I am a better person for having known her.
