It is with profound sadness in our hearts that we say good-bye to a wonderful life partner, son, brother, uncle, nephew and a true dear friend, on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Peter will be missed by all that met and loved him. He was special to everyone. He was generous of spirit and loyal to all his family and friends.
Peter was born April 8, 1962, in Montreal, QC. He moved with his family to Calgary in 1978. He attended school, in Cochrane, AB. He attained a Red Seal designation from the SAIT Culinary School. He used his talents for cooking, to work across Canada. Many friends and family enjoyed wonderful meals that he prepared. You could never just drop in for a visit, you would have to share an array of appetizers that he would have ready at a moment’s notice. His many talents included photography especially of wildlife that he could spot in a forest, when no one else would notice. He loved the outdoors, and spent years with Calgary Search and Rescue.
Peter is survived by his forever partner, Denise Hamel; his mother, Tani Slaz (Jack Petersen); his brother, Paul Jonke (Jodi); his sister, Anne Marie Hill (Terry); his nephews, Christopher (Amy) and Joshua Jonke (Kirsten) and Tristan Wolfe; his niece, Kayleigh Wolfe; as well as his aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving brother, John Jonke.
At Peter’s request, no service will be held. Memorial donations may be made directly to the Calgary Humane Society, www.calgaryhumane.ca.
Expressions of sympathy may be forwarded to the family via the website www.fostersgardenchapel.ca.
