Peter Klein

Peter Klein passed away peacefully in his home on August 10th, 2010. The Klein family had recently gathered in Calgary to celebrate his milestone 80th birthday in May of this year.

As a young man in 1958, Peter left Porsche racing in Germany to start as a licensed mechanic with Volkswagen Canada in Toronto with the objective to search for adventure in the new world. Shortly after arriving in Toronto, Peter set out to establish his fortunes and ended up in Barrie, Ontario. He met and married his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret, in 1959, and proceeded to establish both a family and a business. Barrie became home with the birth of son Bob and daughter Ann. Peter continued to develop and expand his automotive business through the years and established Barrie’s first Mercedes Benz dealership. Subsequent business ventures included Windy Brae riding stables in Oro Township, and lastly a property management company in Calgary. Peter was active in the local community, shared a love of boating and travel, and time with his family.

Peter is lovingly remembered by his family, wife Margaret; son Bob and daughter-in-law Natalie, daughter Ann; and three grandchildren Tyler, Ryley and Margaux.

A private Service will be held with the immediate family in Calgary and a Memorial Service will be scheduled at a future date in the family’s home town of Barrie, Ontario, where he will be laid to final rest in September.
