Peter Thomas Morgan passed away peacefully at Holy Cross Manor on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at the age of 88 years. Peter was twice widowed. He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet, in 2000 and by his second wife, Beverly in 2019.
Despite the profound grief he experienced in his lifetime, he found love and companionship twice, building a rich and fulfilling life.
Peter was born on October 3, 1937 in Lewisham, England, the youngest son of Harold and Ivy Morgan. A love of adventure and travel saw Peter immigrating to Canada as a young man, teaching first in Bridgewater, NS and Winnipeg, MB before settling in Calgary, AB. He met and married Janet Robinson with Jennifer arriving in 1971 and Colin in 1975. Summers were often spent camping in Canada and the US and once retired he and Janet spent much of their time on road trips and at some of their favourite campgrounds like Blue Rock and Sandy McNabb until Janet’s death in 2000.
He and Bev married in 2007 and also shared a love of travel, seeing them exploring Australia, Africa, Spain, Portugal as well as many other locations. In 2012 Peter became a grandpa with the arrival of Isaac and Rachel. In his later retirement he rediscovered a love of painting and drawing and spent many hours with brushes and pens in hand.
Peter is survived by children Jennifer and Colin; grandchildren Isaac and Rachel; and extended family Taryn Montgomery, Richard Larson, Shaylyn Montgomery and Brenden Montgomery, along with many other friends and colleagues.
A Memorial Service will be held at Wild Rose United Church, 1317 1 Street N.W., Calgary, AB on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 1:30 p.m., with the Reverend Linda Hunter officiating.
Interment of the urn will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
