

Christopher was born on March 21, 1929 in Calne, Wiltshire, England the son of the late James John and Hilda Kate Wren. He is survived by his wife Georgina (Gina) Wren; sister Beryl Wallis and husband Ken; god-son Brennan Dwyer all in the UK; his god-daughter, Emma Louise Grady of Okotoks; niece Denise Butler; and brother-in-law Joe Rafferty of High River and numerous other nieces and nephews in Calgary, High River, Okotoks, Australia and the UK.
He was educated at Trinity County Grammer School, Wood Green, London and matriculated in July of 1945.
He commenced his business career at the London & Manchester Insurance Society in the City of London. In 1947 he was inducted into the Royal Air Force and after his training served at Pembroke Dock in South Wales as a Radar Technician with two squadrons of Short Sunderland Flying Boats until 1949.
Chris had a great passion for Ballroom & Latin American Dancing and competed in amateur competitions until meeting his wife Georgina (Gina) in 1960. In 1961 they were married and lived in Enfield, Middlesex, in North London.
Chris' career continued in management culminating as Assistant Traffic Officer for Diversey UK Ltd. until 1967 when he and his wife Georgina (Gina) emigrated to Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
During the period from 1967 to 2001 Chris held several managerial positions. His last position, which he held for ten years from 1977 to 1987, was that of General Manager for the Calgary Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and was the representative for the Calgary Humane Society at all major conferences across Canada and his love of all animals (cats in particular) was constant throughout his life.
In 1989 Christopher started his own company (McRibons Ink) a Computer Cartridge Recycling company which he ran until his retirement on 2001.
From 1967 to 2009 Christopher served on various Condominium Boards. He served on the Calgary Canada Day Committee (organizing their first ever “Canada Day Ball”) and also, the “Calgary West Riding of the Reform Party of Canada” being one of two Vice Presidents, and again Organizing a “Promotional Ball” for and assisting in the election of Preston Manning to the House of Commons. In 2007 until 2014 Chris and Gina enjoyed the many cruises they were able to take.
Thank you to the many doctors and all the medical staff at the High River General Hospital, the High River Home Care Team, the Staff on Manchester Unit 1 and all the support staff at Tudor Manor, Okotoks.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Chris’ memory directly to Heaven Can Wait, (Box 6131, High River, Alberta, T1V 1P7).
As per Chris’ wishes no formal service will be held. All family, friends and neighbours are invited to attend a “Celebration of Chris' Life” at the Royal Canadian Legion 71 in High River on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. for refreshments and reminiscences.
