Born on Sept 9, 1940, Pui Yin was the eldest of eight siblings, and grew up raising her family in Hong Kong. She met her future husband, Yuk To, as a teenager when they were neighbours – he once helped her carry water home, and from that simple act, their lifelong love story began.
She started her career as a grade school teacher and later became a health care aid where she worked for many years, making many friends before her retirement. In 1996, she and Yuk To immigrated to Canada to live with their second son and his family, lovingly helping to raise their grandchildren.
The most important people to Pui Yin were her immediate family. She loved vacationing, eating a variety of food, adored television and more recently came to love YouTube. Known for her friendly nature, easygoing spirit, and generous heart, she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the volunteers, social workers, health care aids, nurses, and doctors who supported her in her final years. Their care allowed her to enjoy a high quality of life and spend meaningful time with her family.
Pui Yin is survived by her husband, Yuk To Choi, her two sons, two grandchildren, one great grandchild - whom she always loved to squeeze and hug; and five siblings.
