May 7, 1923 – June 14, 2012
Ralph passed away peacefully the morning of Thursday, June 14, 2012, surrounded by loving family members. He is survived by his wife Alma, to whom he was married for over sixty-six years, and by his daughter Sharon (Lester) and Loraine (Ken). He is also survived by four grandchildren, David, Jennifer, Kendra and Daryl, by Emily, his great grandchild and by his nephew Brian (Sandra) and their children and grandchild. Ralph grew up in the Calgary area and attended Western Canada High School, where he was very active in sports and was a promising hockey player. He went on to join the Royal Canadian Air Force where he achieved the rank of pilot officer. Following the war, Ralph worked with Ashdown's Hardware and the T. Eaton Company until he retired in 1987. Ralph had a passion for inventing and had many innovative ideas, which kept him engrossed until shortly before his death. He and Alma enjoyed their retirement years with friends and extended family and had the opportunity to do a great deal of travelling. They resided in Wildwood for over 53 years before moving to Airdrie. Ralph practiced his strong Christian faith and lived the Ten Commandments. We trust he has been reunited with his beloved parents Winifred and Harry, sister Mary and Aunt Ada and Uncle Arthur. He will be remembered fondly and sorely missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to The Salvation Army, 822, 420 – 9 Avenue S.E., Calgary, AB T2G 0R9.
