I am truly saddened to hear this news. I was Raphael’s in-home math tutor five years ago, and he was such a pleasant young man — truly a joy to work with. I’m praying for God’s grace and strength for his lovely family, and that they feel His comfort and peace, even in this difficult time.

We only met Rapha a few times, but each time was a good experience. One of our fondest memories is when he was at our house visiting, and sat himself in the baby's carseat - and fit! Then proceeded to play in such a gentle, caring way with little Marcus. He could have chosen to be a bored teenager, but he chose joy instead.

I met Raphael through cutting his hair. I’ve been his barber for the past 2 years. Every time I cut his hair he put a smile on my face. Me and him would often talk about music while I cut his hair. Such a bright young man with big dreams and good heart. 

My condolences

I remember when Raphael and his mom moved in next door. I had just met him and he didn’t know much English, just Spanish. But as we grew up though and he learned, we became really good friends. We hung out all the time, especially in the Summers. Going to the skate park together, hanging out in the neighborhood, climbing trees and going on my roof, I would come over and we would spend hours playing on his Xbox. I remember going with him and his mom to Fairmont hot springs for the week and we just had a blast together. And although we kinda grew apart as we got older, he was one of my best friends growing up and some of my best memories are with him and I’ll never forget the times we had as kids. He will very much be missed.

Raphael had music in him and always will. May his family, friends and those whose lives weaved together with his, listen for that music in their own lives and in so doing, keep his memory alive.

The best picture me and him got together when he came to see me and Ross in Washington, he was so happy and excited to explore Washington and we took him to the waterfront in Tacoma, Ross’s girlfriend took this picture without me knowing and I’m glad she did because it’s almost all I have of him and I physically together

We had plans to meet. How it feels to have a sibling ? A person you share a bit of personality.  This was crazy for both of us.

We were in close contact trying to understand each others life as we have the same Dad but live at different ends of the world. He was so excited about everything and happy to share his music and thoughts  with me. And I was always looking forward to meet him soon, and to get to know his familiy. I love him as my little brother, my big icon. Thank you! I am with all my heart with you.

Dear Lili and family, We're shocked and saddened to hear about Raphael's passing. We have wonderful memories of Raphael; going to the skateboard park (with scooters), Breathe Parkour, lots of Scout camps and activities, and just hanging out at our house. Raphael will always be in our hearts. We're very sorry for your loss.

i pains me to have to say goodbye to one of my best friends , i wish i had met Raph earlier in life.
He was such a positive ,beautiful and respectful person that we became friends right away, he was always so caring and bright always pushing to hang with me and never forgetting including me in his plans, eventually his friends became mine and ever since we’ve been tru of one of the truest friendships ive ever had.
Raphael always pushed me to be myself and taught me not care what others have to say, but embrace that the whispers you hear

Raphael was more than just a friend to me. He was my brother. We shared every experience about life with eachother since we were kids. I loved just being a listening ear for anything he was going through the same way he always did for me. He was truly one of a kind and nothing will ever be able to fill the void since he’s left. He’s forever going to be with me and in my heart. I’m grateful to have had him be a part of my life and I’m beyond grateful to have been a part of his. Rest easy little bro I’ll see you again someday

Him and Ross friendship was truly one of a kind. There are people who leave footprints on your heart so deep, no time or distance can ever erase them. You were that person for me. The love, the laughter, the lessons you gave me more than words could ever hold. We miss you every day, but we carry you with us in everything we do. You may be gone from this world, but you’ll never be gone from us .

Such a beautiful, tender soul. He had the most amazing humor, he made everyone's days brighter. My sibling was one of his best friends, I didn't talk to him much but I've been going to the same school as him since elementary. I would sometimes overhear his jokes and I would laugh so hard, and that goes to show that he made people happier even from afar. I saw how joyful his friends were whenever they were around him, they would laugh even without him trying. He is so loved. I remember admiring how he skateboarded at school because I found it so cool, he was so talented. Even as someone who didn't know him much, I have a lot of good memories of him, and that says a lot about who he is. He had a personality that would stick to people after encountering it. He had this bright radiance whenever you would see him, you just knew he was an amazing person. Even now, I see my sibling rewatch past memories with him and just laugh and laugh. He has impacted so many lives, even those he didn't know. I wish we became friends, he truly is wonderful. I will never forget him.

He would always call me whenever he cat sit for his neighbor because he knew that I thought the cat was so cute. Even the cat could feel how kind and loving of a person he was, and would always snuggle up to him. This is a reminder of the happier times of our friendship, and I will miss him so dearly.

I used to work with him, he was a good kid. He always presented himself as "too cool for school" but I don't think that was the case. He would often ask me for advice about friends and highschool while we worked together. He was fun and always eager to learn and help.  He made sure people were okay, he was often the first to ask if someone was okay if they were seeming a bit off. We weren't super close, but he will be missed.

I only knew him online never met him in person but he inspired me to continue making music I connected with him because he was one of the very few people that liked what I liked especially in music and we had that in common and we made a couple tracks together when I fell off of music seeing him keep going motivated me to cone back and make music I wish he didn't pass I was hoping to actually meet him face to face one day but I hope he rest in peace and Thanks Raphael for motivating me

I remember the day I first connected with Raphael. I sat next to him in our grade 8 math class, and we became pretty good friends as I helped him each day through the content he was struggling with. We stayed in contact since, catching up every few days, and I’ll always remember how genuine he was. Raphael was an amazing friend who’s always been supportive and understanding of anything I was going though. He will be dearly missed, and his warmth, humour, and compassion left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. I feel incredibly lucky to have called him my friend.
