Kidoy was born in Barangay Budiaue, Janiuay, Iloilo, Philippines on May 14, 1931. He was the oldest of 8 children: 4 brothers and 3 sisters. He married his beautiful wife, Silveria, on June 13, 1955, and together they had 4 children.
A hardworking farmer in the Philippines, Kidoy dedicated his life to providing the best possible future for his family. His perseverance was rewarded when he and Silveria immigrated to Calgary, Alberta, on April 24, 1994, where they were reunited with their daughters. Their sons later followed, arriving in 2012 and 2018, bringing the family together again. Family meant everything to Kidoy, being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather brought him endless joy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Silveria (nee Ansores) Hablado; daughters Hayde (Barry), Berna (Wilfredo); sons Alfredo (Nilda), Nilo (Gina); grandchildren Lovelina (John), Philamer (Katie), Genil, Stephanie (Matthew), Kurt (Alexandria); great-grandchildren Naiyah, Laylah, LJ, Ezekiel, and Ricqui; brothers Alberto, Manuel, and Rodolfo, and many nieces, nephews, friends and family. Kidoy was predeceased by his parents Emeterio and Leonida; sisters Ofelia, Rosalia, Editha, and brother Emilio.
Kidoy loved being a family man and especially loved being a grandpa and great grandpa.
During his lifetime, Kidoy enjoyed travelling with his children and grandchildren to places such as Hawaii, Las Vegas, Cuba, San Francisco, Mexico, and many others. When he was not home cheering on the Blue Jays and the Calgary Flames, Kidoy was an avid fisherman and camper. He loved being in nature. Every spring you could find him in front of the house planting flowers and working in the garden and going on his daily walks along the Bow River.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff on Unit 64 at the Foothills Hospital. Not only did they give Kidoy the best care, but they also took care of the family during this trying time. The family would also like to thank their wonderful friends and family who have supported and checked in on the family while Kidoy was in the hospital. They are forever grateful and blessed to have amazing people in their lives!
