Richard Alan Boyack

Born in Calgary, Alberta, on May 28, 1948, Rick lived a life marked by professional achievement, community involvement, and meaningful connections with family and friends.

A dedicated accounting professional, Rick earned his Certified General Accountant designation and went on to receive the prestigious Fellow designation, FCPA, in recognition of his contributions to his profession. His career reflected years of commitment to his field, and his achievements were recognized with honours including the CGA Canada 100 CGAs Who Made a Difference award in 2008. He was also a recipient of the White Hat Award from Calgary Tourism in 2007.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rick gave generously of his time to his community. He volunteered with the Calgary Airport Authority and the Calgary Zoological Society, where he served as an ambassador. His favourite memory of volunteering was when he played Santa Claus at the Calgary Zoo during Zoolights.

Family was an important part of Rick’s life. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lily Boyack, his father Alan Boyack and mother Ivy Boyack. Rick leaves behind his daughter, Michelle Parkkari (Andrew); his grandchildren, Zachary, Rebecca (Max), and Elizabeth; his son, Michael Boyack; and his brother, Barry Boyack.

Rick will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. His life was marked by professional achievement, community service, and a legacy that will continue through the people who knew and loved him.

In keeping with Rick’s wishes, no funeral service will be held. A private graveside service will take place in December.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Calgary Food Bank, one of Rick’s favourite charities, in his memory.

He will be remembered with love and gratitude, and he will be dearly missed.
