Mr. Rodney Michael Hunter Brodrick

December 25, 1942 – August 31, 2011

On Wednesday August 31, 2011, the world lost one of its best. Rod passed away peacefully, after a brief and valiant battle with cancer, with his loved ones by his side. Rod will always be remembered for his generosity and giving nature, he was always the one you called when you needed something fixed or built. A genuine craftsman he was. Rod leaves behind his wife of twelve years, Susan; his son Michael (mother Lois-Ann); son Jeff and daughter in law Alison; sister Shannon (Cedric, Chris, Helene, Andrew, Cameron, Hayley); sister-in-law Diane (Deanne, Dave, Will, Marla, Leanne, RJ, Caden, Ty, Tristan, Danny); as well as several in-laws. He will also be dearly missed by his special friends Dawn and Doug. Rod was predeceased by his parents Richard and Helene Brodrick, step-mother Elizabeth, sister Rosemary and brother Bruce. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkdale United Church, 2919 – 8 Avenue N.W. Calgary on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 204, 2323 – 32 Avenue N.E., Calgary, AB T2E 6Z3. The family would like to pay special thanks to the medical team at the Rockyview General Hospital for their tireless commitment to Rod's health and comfort over the past week.
