

Roger Shave passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2022 at the age of 56 years. Roger was born in May of 1965 and spent the first three years of his life in Noggincove, Newfoundland. In 1968, Roger’s family moved to Toronto, and then to Calgary in 1975. Roger attended Bowness High School where he met many of his life-long friends. After graduation, he studied Business at Martech. In the early 90’s, Roger started a career with Walls Alive (now Envirotech Coatings) where he would remain until 2015. Roger loved all sports and he especially loved hockey during his youth. Later in life, he took to a different rink, enjoying curling with his friend, Dale. Roger was also a skilled fisherman, spending time here on the Bow River and in Haida Gwaii, where his father lives. Since 1998, he looked forward every year to his volunteer work with the Calgary Folk Fest.
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Wanda; his two daughters and their families, Alannah Shave (Michael Peña), and Hayley Shave (Macauley Mashford); his mother, Ruby Parsons; his father, Winston Shave (Elsie Wolter); and his sister, Yolanda Shave (Nsangou Issah). Also left to mourn Roger are countless friends and family, you all had a special place in Roger’s life.
A Celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Sunday, May 1st at 2:00pm at Foster’s Garden Chapel Funeral Home (3220 4th Street NW, Calgary AB).
