Roy Victor Bracegirdle

Roy V. Bracegirdle proud father of 6 children, Sylvia, Ian, Anne, Michael, Paul and David, passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 5, 2022. Roy was ready to go home and announced that he was tired and just wanted to be with his wife Elsie who preceded him in January of 2018. Roy and Elsie were also beloved grandparents of eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roy was born in Liverpool, England, the son of entertainers; he and Elsie were married in 1946. They continued the tradition of entertaining in the North of England and then in both Canada and the United States after emigrating to Canada in 1967. They were well known in Calgary as part of Storybook Theatre, The Welsh Society Choir, The Silver Stars and numerous other production companies.

A Celebration of Life will be held at SOUTH CALGARY FUNERAL CENTRE, 12700 Macleod Trail South (at Lake Fraser Gate), on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The City of Calgary Vaccine Passport Bylaw 65M2021 requires all individuals attending funeral services to provide COVID-19 proof of vaccination, or proof of a privately-paid negative test result taken within 72 hours of service, or documentation of medical exemption.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made in Roy’s memory directly to the Calgary Humane Society.
