Ruth Emily Anderson

January 5, 1928 – April 5, 2013

It is with heavy hearts, bursting with gratitude for a life well lived, that we say farewell to our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, Ruth Emily Anderson on Friday, April 5, 2013. Ruth was born in Eastend, Saskatchewan, the second of ten children, to Emil and Thea Anderson. On October 24, 1948, she married Arni Anderson in Kandahar, Saskatchewan, where they farmed, were active in the community and raised their daughters until moving to Calgary in 1974. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband Arni in 1996, son-in-law Dyrl, and her siblings Vernon, Marilyn, Joyce and Willard. She leaves a living legacy in her cherished daughters; Valerie Anderson, Arlene (Dave) Rose, Rhonda (Wayne) Miller and Maureen (John) Johnston; grandchildren Tanya (Ted) Jordan, Karen (Travis) Jordan, Renee (Scott) Buehler, Evan (Jessica) Rose, Wendy (Chris) Miller, Morgan and Erin Johnston; step-grandchildren Sarah (Stuart) Spencer-Hall and Amy Spencer; great grandchildren Bailey and Tyler Punton, Kaytlyne Jordan, Cody and Karissa Seamans, Alyssa and Brett Buehler. Ruth is survived by her siblings Norval (Eleanor) Anderson, Anita Rachey, Joanne Learmonth, Ray (Coranne) Anderson, Gordon (Sharon) Anderson as well as sisters and brothers-in-law. Ruth also leaves behind dear family too numerous to mention, but all near to her heart. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Ted Vant, Dr. Cynthia Card, Stephanie Duffy and the Santuari Hospice staff for their exemplary care and attention to Ruth in her final days. A Funeral Service will be held at FOSTER’S GARDEN CHAPEL, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to STARS Air Rescue, PO Box 570, 1441 Aviation Park N.E., Calgary AB, T2E 8M7 or to the Santuari Hospice c/o the Calgary Health Trust, 800 - 11012 MacLeod Trail S.E., Calgary AB, T2J 6A5.
