Born in Riverton, Wyoming to Leo and Carol Zahn, and raised in Red Lodge, Montana, Scott’s love for the mountains and the outdoors took root early. He was a husband, father, son, brother, friend, mentor and coach who was committed to living life to the fullest. A man of many passions from hunting, fishing, flying and countless other pursuits, Scott threw himself wholeheartedly into everything he did.
Scott will be remembered for his devotion to alpine ski racing and the athletes he coached and mentored. His coaching journey carried him from Red Lodge to Canada and abroad, running programs in Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Zealand and Alaska. For nearly three decades, Scott was a cornerstone of the Alberta ski community. His knowledge, experience and unwavering commitment shaped countless athletes, coaches and families. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy - not only in the ski programs and athletes he helped develop, but in the confidence he instilled and the memories he created.
Scott will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Catherine Christoffersen; his son, Hunter Zahn; his mother, Carol Zahn; and his sisters, Lori (Troy Kane) and Leann Zahn; along with his nieces and nephews. Scott was predeceased by his father, Leo Zahn. He also leaves behind countless friends, athletes, coaches and members of the ski community whose lives were made better by knowing him.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the entire medical team at the Arthur J.E.
