OBITUARY

Sheila Jean Tripp

21 October, 1935 – 21 June, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

South Calgary Funeral Centre and Crematorium

We are saddened to announce the passing of Sheila Jean Tripp June 21, 2026 at her home in Calgary Alberta.

Sheila was much loved by her sons Kent, Michael (Nick) and Tim (Pat): grandchildren Michael, Aiden and Evan.

Sheila was predeceased by her husband Allan Tripp, parents Bill and Mabel (Smee) Higgins and her brother Bill Higgins.

Sheila was born on May 17, 1935 in Athabasca, Alberta. Sheila grew up in Northern Alberta. She attended high school in St. Paul. She enjoyed playing sports particularly basketball and curling. She continued to enjoy watching sports all her life. She left St. Paul for Edmonton to attend typing school and became a typist for Dominion Bridge. While in Edmonton she met Allan through her friend and co-worker Elsie, Allan’s sister. Sheila and Allan married April 24, 1961. Allan’s work in the oilfield meant frequent relocations over the years so she left her job to become a homemaker. Sheila and Allan had three children Tim, Michael and Kent. Later when she became a grandparent she and Allan made trips to Ontario to visit the grandchildren as well as Tim and Pat creating fond memories for the grandchildren.

Sheila was artistic and pursued hobbies such as quilting and later colouring that allowed her to express her artistic side. She was also an excellent cook and always had her delicious chocolate chip cookies on hand for the grandchildren when they visited. She was also a lover of birds and small animals as her many ornaments can attest. She will be missed and remembered fondly.

A private family Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the homecare, medical and pharmacy staff who served Sheila for their kindness and compassion in providing care for her to the end of her life.

We are grateful for the messages and acts of love and sympathy received from family and friends.
