Tak Wing Benedict “Uncle Ben” Lee passed away peacefully at the Dulcina Hospice on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the age of 68 years.
Born on June 8, 1950 in Hong Kong, Ben enjoyed growing up and playing with his six sisters and one brother. Ben came to Canada to earn his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at Queen’s University, where he graduated with honours. He would then return back to Hong Kong to earn his Master’s Degree in Engineering at the University of Hong Kong. Romance would bloom in Ben’s life in 1978 when he met the love of his life, May. They were married on December 27, 1980 and began building their family together. In 1986, Ben, May and their son Brian moved to Calgary. Some of Ben’s work in Hong Kong would include time at San Miguel Brewery Inc. and Dairy Farm International. In Canada, he worked at CN Rail, Domtar, Alcan and finally started his own home inspection company Trilink Engineering & Maintenance Inc.
Ben will always be remembered for the love and kindness he expressed to all those who knew him. He was always available to lend a helping hand, and was actively involved in church life at Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church, as well as many volunteering activities including volunteering at the North Calgary Christian Academy and various nursing homes.
Ben is lovingly remembered by his wife May; son Brian; daughter Carol; son-in-law Dave; and granddaughter Brooklyn. He is also dearly missed by his siblings Wendy, Kenneth, Louisa, Kitty, Sandy, and Iris.
He was predeceased by his father Lee Shui Tsang, mother Fung Chi Ngan, step mother Tam Lai Kuen and his eldest sister Ngai Foon.
Those wishing to pay their respects or unable to attend the funeral may do so at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday, April 19th, 2019 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm.
Funeral Service will be held at the Calgary Chinese Evangelical Free Church, 1706 – 20th Ave NW, Calgary, Alberta, on Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at 10:30am; Pastor Pastor Lorne Trudgian officiating. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
