Tom Mon Siu Mah, loving husband and father, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019 in Calgary, Alberta at the age of 89 with his family at his side. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kim Suey Mah; children Ann Purdy (Robert) and Peter (Jane); granddaughter Kelsey Ling and step grandsons Colin Purdy and Kyron Purdy. He was predeceased by his son Michael.
Tom was born in Taishan, China and immigrated to Canada in 1951. After meeting and marrying his wife Kim, he settled in Vulcan, Alberta, and co-owned the Royal Café as one of the cooks for many years. In 1977, Tom moved his family to Calgary, Alberta, where he worked in several restaurants before retiring. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends for his smile, friendly demeanor, and love of people. Tom was best known for meeting up with friends for coffee in the community for daily coffees rain or shine.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary, Alberta (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery), on Friday 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow Queen’s Park Cemetery.
