OBITUARY

Vincent Owen Jones

20 October, 198823 April, 2021

Vincent came into this world in a hurry to live life on October 20, 1988. He passed away suddenly on April 23, 2021.

He was predeceased by his grandfather Bill Short, grandfather Vince Jones Sr, and father Vincent Jones Jr. Leaving to mourn his mother Pamela Shantz (Harvey); much loved grandmother Dorothy Short; aunt Carolyn Short; uncle Chris Short (Lee-Anne); uncle Mike Jones (Sue); cousins Lauren, Elias, Michael, and Chris; and many friends, and extended family.

Vincent spent his young and teenage years living in Torbay, Newfoundland. He had so very many fond memories of good times, and good friends. His adult years were spent in Calgary. He worked on the oil rigs as a motor man. He was a concrete placer and finisher. He was a cribber, and even tried his hand briefly at roofing. He had a great work ethic. He was a hard worker, who was very well liked by all his co-workers, and all who knew him.

Vincent loved everything outdoors. Camping, fishing, boating, hiking, snowboarding, sledding, and off roading. He was always up for an adventure. Vincent was a wealth of information in many areas. He loved watching documentaries. He absorbed all the information and knew so much about history, and all the star systems and galaxies always fascinated him. I think he also watched every episode of South Park. He loved that show.

Vincent faced his own personal struggles on his own. He was a kind gentle soul who never thought twice about helping someone who was in need, or who was down on their luck.

Vincent will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Our family mourns with you all at this very sad news. I remember so vividly Vincent as this beautiful chubby baby playing in the sand at the beach. He had a good heart and a wonderful smile. He will be missed .

Pam and family,
I am so sorry and saddened to hear the news of Vin. We spoke a couple of months ago and caught up, which I never thought would be the last time. He was a good friend and had many great qualities. I wish there was something I could do to ease the pain but I know that my Mom greeted him when he got there probably with a “ Now Vinny, you’re gonna behave up here right?!”
He has her and the boys to look out for him up there now and I’m sure that he will always be with your guys wherever you go.
Love you Vin, keep that music loud brother.

I remember Vin from years ago in Torbay. He was a nice young man who babysat my boys a few times. So sorry for your loss Pam. Hope you find peace in all the great memories. Take care of yourself.
