

Wai will be lovingly remembered by her children Leigh, Sam (Agnes), Christina, Lisa (Stanley), and Susan; and her grandchildren Spencer (Maya), Sheldon (Rachelle), Sean, Peter, Sarah, and Matthew. She leaves behind many nephews, nieces, extended family members, and close friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ying Hang Mah, her parents, and her brother Wai Tip Cheung.
Wai was born in Hoiping, Guangdong, China on October 10, 1934. At a young age, Wai married Ying and moved to Hong Kong, where they were blessed with five children. The family immigrated to Canada in 1966 and settled in Calgary, Alberta.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Wai was happiest when family gathered together to enjoy her delicious home cooked meals, soups, dumplings, and other Chinese delicacies. Weekly Sunday lunches became a tradition that everyone looked forward to. She leaves a legacy of Chinese traditions, cuisine, and family values that will carry on through her children and grandchildren.
Wai enriched many lives through her kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Her beautiful soul and radiant smile will be forever missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4th Street N.W., Calgary, AB, on Wednesday, November 26, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
