Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Walter's childhood was spent in Aldersyde and High River, Alberta. From 1943 to 1945 he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flight Sergeant. Walter and Clara (deceased 1993) met at the Garbutt Business College and married in 1948. After a lengthy career with Canadian Pacific Express, Walter retired. He met Millie Braun in 1994, when both were grieving the loss of their spouse. They remained a happy, active couple until her death in 2019.
Walter is lovingly remembered by his daughters Connie, Wendy (Parker) and Sherry (Tracey deceased 2000); and grandchildren Frank, Melanie, Jeffrey, Danica, Wade, Amanda, Trevor, and their respective families.
A private family service was held. A Celebration of Life will be held in late September.
