Walter Joseph Sorokoski

Walter was born on March 8, 1931 on the family farm near Alvena, SK and he attended a rural school and later high school in Dana, SK. Walter moved to Winnipeg, MB and began his career as a welder and then moved west to Alberta where he began working on the oil rigs. After working on the oil rigs, he began working at ATCO in Calgary until his retirement, which was short lived as he became a facility person at the condominium in which he resided.

In Calgary, Walter married Shirley on April 10, 1971, the inspiration and love of his life. Both Walter and Shirley loved their numerous trips to Hawaii.

Walter had a quiet demeanour but behind the scenes he was a man of action. Walter would wake before dawn and give his everything to what needed to be done that day. He had his own “Fix It” magic show. There was no task that he could not do. Perseverance and patience always shone through. Walter was an excellent cook, a courteous host and a smart dresser.

Walter was a gracious man who made you feel welcome and loved.

He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Adie Tice and his sister-in-law Pat Sorokoski both of Calgary, AB; his brother and sister-in-law Stewart and Irene White of Saskatoon, SK; his sister-in-law Bev MacDonald and partner Ed McMaster of Calgary, AB; and brother and sister-in-law Bruce and Bev White of Yorkton, SK. Walter’s love touched his nieces and nephews Leroy Tice of Calgary, AB, Laurie Tice and Rick Henderson of Drumheller, AB, Scott Sorokoski of Calgary, AB, Brian and Beverley Lane and Lee and Debbie Lane of Balgonie, SK, Cathy and Matt Ward of Saskatoon, SK, Kristi and James Zarestki of Warman, SK and his great nieces and nephews and their families. Walter is predeceased by his wife Shirley (nee White); his parents Helen Duff of Calgary, AB; Mike Sorokoski & Albena Sorokoski of Dana, SK; his brother Slyvester Sorokoski of Calgary, AB and his nephew Richard Sorokoski.

Walter requested no funeral service be held.
