Wes was born in DeBolt, Alberta to parents George and Elizabeth and was the youngest of six children. Wes went on to graduate from the University of Alberta and had a successful career as a pharmacist. In his retirement, Wes built hundreds of pieces of furniture for friends and family.
Wes loved fishing, maps, telling stories, terrible jokes, his family and friends, his pets and having adventures so he could tell you about them. Generous to a fault, Wes was always the first to help anyone who needed it and always had something funny to say to whoever was nearby.
Wes will be greatly missed by his partner, Kay Tripp and his children and grandchildren: Malcolm Brekkie (granddaughters Cecilia and Madeleine), Ann Given (Alen) and Clare Andres (Dean and granddaughters Renee and Bridget). He is survived by his brother Albert (Gail) Given of Edmonton and sister Georgie Collins (Al) of Calgary. Wes is predeceased by his ex-wife Leila and his wife Ann; his parents, brothers Bob and Ed, and his sister Lil.
A Celebration of Wes’ life will be held at Mount Royal Station, 2317 – 10 Street SW, Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. More information is available at www.wesgiven.com where you can upload your favourite stories or photos of Wes.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary.
