Bill is predeceased by his beautiful wife Barbara and parents Harold and Jean. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children Janet (Chris), Glen (Shelley), and Shirley, his two grandchildren Carling and Elise, nieces Julia and Kerith, and nephew Craig.
Born in London, Ontario, Bill grew up with an affinity for music – playing the tuba in the London Police Boys band, the sousaphone in the Western University marching band and continuing with the organ and hammered dulcimer, all of which accompanied his lifelong passion for singing in church choirs with Barb. After graduating from Ryerson in Electronic Technology, Bill joined the RCAF in 1960 and flew around the world on the Canadair CP-107 Argus, achieving Captain’s rank during 25 years of service. He loved to bring back souvenirs for the kids from his many travels. Bill was an expert with shotguns – winning multiple titles in Canada and the USA in both skeet and black powder divisions. Bill also enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage and had taken up playing online during Covid - he skunked a lot of people over the years! He enjoyed going to stock car races and was a champion mini-golfer. Bill enjoyed watching golf, curling, football, and baseball. If there was a prize for the number of Blue Jay games watched, Bill would have won it – he was an avid fan and watched every game on TV. Even though he didn’t have any pets recently, his cats Tinker and Remy held a special place in his heart. Sundays were Bill’s favourite day – church, shooting, watching sports on TV, and spending time with his family and beloved ‘Barbie.’ He will be remembered for his deep faith, commitment to family and friends and great sense of humour.
As per Bill’s wishes there will be no memorial service, but a private interment will take place in North Nissouri United Church cemetery at a future date.
