It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Randy Dulmadge after a lengthy battle with cancer. Randy was born on June 9, 1942 in Barrie, ON where his father was stationed during the war. Shortly after that Randy and his parents moved back to Calgary, AB which has always been the primary home to the Dulmadge family.
Randy is survived by his wife Merle; his children Jeff (Michelle), Mark and Greg; his grandchildren Danielle (Ryan) and Logan; as well as his brother Ron (Linda); sister Barb; and a multitude of siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Randy is predeceased by his parents, Les and Peg Dulmadge; his brother Rick; his first wife Judy; and nephew Curtis, all of Calgary, AB.
If you asked Randy about his career, he would begin as a teen with his paper route with both the Star Weekly and then the Calgary Herald. Randy spent much of his career in the automotive industry, working for Motor Car Supply, Taylor, Pearson and Carson, a wholesale supplier of automotive parts, Sunnen Products Co., specializing in honing machines, and Moore’s Engine Professionals. He later became the owner and president of Precise Engine Rebuilders Inc. Randy was also on the Board of Directors for E.R.I. (Engine Rebuilders Inc.) for many years until his retirement when he sold his business in 2008.
He and Merle retired and moved to Lantzville, BC on Vancouver Island where they lived for 13 years. There Randy joined the Gyro Club, a men’s social friendship fraternity where they met many couples and enjoyed a variety of gatherings and made many friends.
Throughout their life together Randy and Merle enjoyed extensive travel. They had a variety of RV’s and “glam camped” with friends and family. They had a winter spot in Yuma, AZ for many years. They also enjoyed cruising and traveling all over the world and lived their dreams.
Randy loved to renovate the homes he had. There was always a project or more on the go. He was also an avid reader and was fascinated with current events, politics and loved to engage in deep and meaningful discussions.
When Randy’s cancer activated in 2022, they moved back to Calgary to be closer to their family whom he loved voraciously and unconditionally. Together they have created so many precious memories with family and friends. In life and work Randy lived by a set of values that he never waivered from: integrity, trust and honesty. Because of this he was respected and loved. Relationships meant everything to him, and many of his friendships spanned more than 40 or 50 years. He leaves behind a lifetime of happy and special memories.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Randy’s life will be held at Foster’s Garden Chapel, 3220 – 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen’s Park Cemetery) on Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m.
