Yolanda was someone who truly loved life. She was an eternal optimist – generous, fiercely independent, and full of love. She loved her family beyond measure, and even when life presented her with challenges, she faced them with determination, humour, and optimism.
She found joy in family, friendships, travel, and being of service to others. Whether she was perusing a farmers’ market or Winners, or simply spending time with the people she loved, she had a way of making the day feel brighter.
Above all, Yolanda loved her family. She was a devoted mother and an incredibly proud grandmother who would move mountains to make sure those she loved felt supported, stable, happy, and cared for.
Yolanda will be deeply missed by her daughter, Ashley Tkachyk; granddaughter, Juniper Lafferty; sister, Katherine Vlahos-Makridis (Costas Makridis); and niece, Denise Helen Fitzgerald (Jake and Ayla Collins).
She was predeceased by Constantin (Gus) Vlahos, Helen (Nitsa) Vlahos, and Stam James Vlahos.
Her life was not simply measured in years, but by the people she loved, the friendships she nurtured, the experiences she collected, and the memories she created along the way.
