

It is with profound love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Yun Ha Lee (Mary), a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who passed away with family by her side on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the age of 93 years.
Born in Hong Kong in 1932 to Yuk Zau Choi and Yuk Hing Ho, Yun Ha Lee endured the hardships of the Second World War at a young age with remarkable willpower and strength. She eventually married Yue Chin Lee, with whom she immigrated to Canada in 1974, and they made their home in Calgary, Alberta, where she lived for the rest of her life. She remained his devoted wife until his passing in 1993. Over the years, Yun Ha Lee built a life rooted in kindness, generosity, and joy. She was the proud matriarch of a large and loving family—mother to six children, grandmother to fourteen, and great-grandmother to fifteen. Her legacy lives on in the laughter, traditions, and values she instilled in each generation.
Yun Ha Lee was a woman of boundless energy and warmth. She loved to travel and was never afraid to try new things. Always fashionably dressed, she was a talented seamstress who could make anything—from camping tents to award-winning knits. She also loved music, and her favourite piece was the Butterfly Lovers Concerto. Her home was a haven of delicious meals, handmade sweaters gifted with love, and open arms for every child who walked through her door. Her friendships spanned decades and continents, enriching her long and vibrant life. She was an active member of her church community and had a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved.
Yun Ha Lee will be remembered for her radiant smile, her unwavering love, and the way she made life feel just a little more wondrous. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and connection that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
