Danuta was born and raised in Poland, and made the journey to Canada in 1966 along with her loving husband and children. Her Polish heritage remained important to her through her life, and she was a member of the Ladies Polish Circle and the Polish Alliance 6-27.
Danuta was preceded in death by her loving husband Spiros Colis (2007) and her beloved daughter Janina Colis (1960).
Danuta will be deeply missed by her children Mary (Richard) Cylwik, Les (Pam) Colis, Marg (Norm) Davies, and Andrew (Leeann) Colis. She was a loving grandmother to Darrell (Angela), Lester, Christina (Kevin), and Chris (Alicia), a great-grandmother to Destiny (Josh), Xander and Arielle, a great-great-grandmother to Axle, Aliyah, and Ashton. She will also be lovingly remembered by many members of her extended family.
All who knew and loved Danuta are invited to join her family in celebrating her life. Visitation will take place on Monday, October 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road. Rosary to take place at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church, 16 Cooper Street. Interment to follow at Parklawn Cemetery. Following the interment, friends and loved ones are invited to a time of fellowship at the Polish Club, 265 Avenue Road, where lunch and memories will be shared in honour of Danuta.
