Frederick John McCulley
16 January , 1933 – 19 April , 2019
Passed away peacefully at Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Friday, April 19, 2019 at age 86.
Proud father of Kathy Tschirhart (Dan) of Cambridge, Ontario and Larry McCulley (Beckie) of Pickering, Ontario. Loving grandfather of Julie and Stuart. Dear brother of Ken Totzke (Nancy) and Marie Duval and brother-in-law of Annette Totzke and Emilie Totzke. Predeceased by his loving wife June, his brothers Richard and Douglas, and his mother Mary Totzke. Fred lived in Preston all of his life. He had a long 40+ year career in industry as a product engineer. He retired at the age of 62 following a potentially devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. With a strong focus on his rehabilitation and his tremendous, ever-present positive outlook in facing adversity, Fred was able to successfully learn how to walk and even drive his car again. He became a dedicated volunteer at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in the Bailey Wellness Centre where he could help others to overcome their challenges. In 2010, Fred joined his wife June as a resident at Saint Luke's Place Long Term Care (LTC) Home where he was a proud member of the Saint Luke's Residents' Council. At Fred's request, cremation has taken place. A public Memorial Service to celebrate Fred's life will be held at Saint Luke's Place auditorium (1624 Franklin Boulevard, Cambridge, Ontario) on Sunday June 2, 2019 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Saint Luke's Place Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Special thanks to the Saint Luke's Place staff for the compassionate care they provided to Fred and to Fred's many friends there for their companionship and friendship. Arrangements entrusted to the Barthel Funeral Home, Cambridge, 519-653-3251.

On behalf of the volunteers at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to you. It is so wonderful that Fred was able to volunteer for 11 years at the hospital in both the Bailey Wellness Centre and with the HELPP lottery. Fred was so generous with time and donated over 1800 hours to CMH. We are so please that in 2008, Fred was recognized with an Ontario Service Award for his contributions. We appreciate that this is a difficult time for the family; please know that Fred's legacy has been shared with those who knew him, and acts as an inspiration for our more recent volunteers. With sincere sympathy, Jamie and Linda - Volunteer Services at CMH.
