A beautiful small town Preston girl, after graduating from teachers college and meeting the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Bill, they raised 6 children in quick succession. Bill and Joan were “quite an item”. Constant companions they experienced a life together that was special by anyone’s standards. Joan found good in all people and the gifts of her children were nurtured individually with her guidance and care.
After her family was raised Joan went back to teaching and for years helped children with special needs as a teaching assistant with the school board. She was admired by colleagues and pupils for her caring and patience. During these years she made a significant difference to the lives of many children. After retiring from teaching Joan continued to tutor children in need of her gifts, some of which stayed in touch with her for years afterwards.
In later years she and Bill found further happiness visiting, talking , laughing and enjoying their days together while caring for family and friends. Joan was 79 years old when she passed peacefully with Bill and family at her side.
