April 29, 1926 - August 6, 2016

After a great day, passed away peacefully at Riverbend Place, on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the age of 90. Reunited with her beloved husband Fred and sister Audrey. Loving mother of Rick (Mona), Rod (Edie), Pam (Tim Fuchs), all of Cambridge, Randy (Kristin) of Conestogo, Rob (Peggy) of Ottawa, Chris (Kim) of Cambridge, seven grandchildren Michelle, Paula, Amy, Adam, Emily, Samantha, Kelly, Sierra and William, and three great-grandchildren Douglas, Corey, Rachel. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Bill Grills and many other family and friends.

Joyce was born on April 29, 1926 in Galt and proudly attended G.C.I. High School. She and Fred were married for 57 years raising their family in Preston. During her life she was involved with the Eastern Star, a faithful member of Saint John’s Anglican Church, an honourary member of Ed Newland’s Pool, and regularly got together with her “Club of Girls” for more than 70 years. Family and friends knew well her commitment to volunteering in the community and her great love of animals and sports.

At Joyce’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge (519-653-3251) on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Saint John’s Anglican Church, 567 Queenston Road (across the street). As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cambridge Humane Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
