Karen was an avid cat lover and a fan of watching science fiction, especially Star Trek and Doctor Who. She was a talented graphic artist and loved doing arts and crafts. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Harry Thompson, mother Marian Van Doorn (nee Allison), brother Mark Van Doorn, mother-in-law Mildred Thompson, sisters-in-law Alice Stahlbaum (Larry), Gayle Botelho (John),and brother-in-law Ivan Thompson. Beloved aunt to nine nieces and nephews and their families. Sadly missed by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Karen was predeceased by her father Kenneth Van Doorn, father-in-law Herman Thompson, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Rd, Cambridge), followed by a funeral service at 8:00 pm. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Hospital Cardiology, the Toronto General Hospital Cardiology, or the Sick Kids Foundation.
