Mr. Lorne Henry Matthews

Matthews, Lorne Henry: At Cambridge Memorial Hospital on Tuesday December 31, 2003, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of the late Helen (Sage) Matthews (March 31, 2000). Dear father of Harold (Sheila), Glen (Carmel), all of Cambridge. Lovingly remembered by six grandchildren, Sandra (Joe),Green, Bradley (Julie)Matthews, Blair (Erin) Matthews, Natalie (Warren) Holmes, Nathan Matthews and Courtney Matthews and seven great grandchildren, Derick, Riley, Colin, Seth, Simon, Shelby and Sabrina. Sadly missed by special friend Mary Craig and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary Matthews, two brothers Elwood Matthews, Rowland Matthews and one great grandson Kyle. Mr. Matthews was born in Moncton, Ontario and had been a longtime resident of Cambridge. He was a 50 year member of St. Paul's United Church and worked for the Waterloo County Board of Education at William G. Davis School as a custodian, retiring in 1981. The family will receive friends at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Rd. Cambridge on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The complete funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul's United Church, 450 King Street E. Cambridge on Saturday January 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm. with Rev. John Anderson officiating. Interment in Memory Gardens, Breslau. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation, St. Paul's United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be greatly appreciated by the family.
