Born in Pico, Azores, Portugal. Manuel is survived, and forever loved, by his wife Maria Angela Brum Silva; daughters Nellie Brum Silva (Wai Au); Judy Brum Silva - Foye (William Foye); granddaughter Danielle Silva Royston (Joseph Royston) and many extended family members and friends.
Manuel and Maria emigrated to Canada from Pico in 1960 and immediately began to set down roots in their adopted country. Proudly Portuguese - Canadian, they opened their home and their hearts to all. Charitable and loving, Manuel had a deep and abiding faith.
Manuel loved the company of family and friends and enjoyed nothing more than a full house of visitors. Visits would often include competitive card playing, loud banter and the sharing of food and drink. He had a great sense of humour. He loved to fish, especially during his regular visits back to his beloved Pico. He was a fan of many sports including hockey, particularly the Toronto Maple Leafs. Manuel lived a long, full life and was much loved and highly respected.
Manuel’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Place for their care during Manuel’s stay.
