Mia was born April 29, 1927 in the Netherlands, and came to Canada in 1953, settling in London, Ontario. Mia is reunited with her beloved husband and best friend, Gerry (Gerardus), with whom she shared over 63 wonderful years, who predeceased her in 2016.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Trudy Scott(Ian), Gerry DeLange (Judi), Berny DeLange (Loreena), Betty Praught (Bill), Fred DeLange (Nancy), Mia Robson and Mark DeLange (Sheila). Mia’s greatest love in life was children, and she adored her 18 grandchildren and her 9 great-grandchildren. Mia is also survived by her dear sister, Truus Swinkels in the Netherlands, and will be fondly remembered by her extended family in Canada and the Netherlands, as well as her Hilltop Manor family. To know Mia was to love her. Never without a smile, she was the life of the party and a sought-after guest. She loved life, LOVED children and was always happy.
Friends will be received at the Barthel Funeral Home (566 Queenston Rd., Cambridge) on Sunday afternoon from 1-4pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday afternoon at 1pm at St. Clements Church, 745 Duke St., Cambridge. Cremation to follow.
