Pat was born in Cambridge, Ontario on April 13, 1944. Pat is predeceased by his wife of 29 years Millie, his mother Kathleen and father James, his sister Bonnie and stepdaughter Diana Lynn Dickson.
He will be greatly missed by his sister Sally (Rick), brothers Donald ‘Butch’ (Carol), Christopher (Denise) and Gerry (Eva, deceased), stepson Raymond Van Der Aa, step grandchildren Stephen and Melissa, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was well known for his contribution to community service. His dedication for over 60 years to the community, seniors and veterans along with the thousands of dollars he raised has made a significant impact with many people and organizations. He was a life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126 where he served as President for 7 terms. Pat along with Mr. George Gilles organized the first Cambridge Canada Day Events and Parade in 1977 which he continued to help organize for more than 20 years. In 1995 he was the co-founder of Cambridge Warriors Day to honour our veterans. Pat has accepted many awards in his honour for exceptional service and passion to help others including Order of Canada award and Seniors of the Month from Ontario Provincial Parliament, The Queen’s Jubilee from our Queen Majesty and the Meritorious Service Medal and the Palm Leaf Medal from the Royal Canadian Legion.
We would like to thank Pat’s residence Saint Luke’s Place for all the love and support over the past 20 years.
Visitation will take place at the Barthel Funeral Home, 566 Queenston Road, Cambridge on Saturday, February 20th from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Cremation will follow. In accordance with the regulations of the Bereavement Authority of Ontario due to COVID-19, all events are restricted to a specified number of attendees. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Luke’s Place in Cambridge, Ontario would be appreciated by his family.
