Wilf was the owner/operator of Rettinger's Texaco and Radiator Service in Preston from 1957 - 1989, where he was an automotive mechanic and radiator repair specialist.
In 1989 Wilf sold his business, but he found himself to be too young to retire, so he acquired his real estate license. Wilf's temporary dabbling in real estate lasted over 20 years.
Wilf was a loyal parishioner of St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus of Cambridge. Wilf served as a Grand Knight, District Deputy and Chairman of the Holding Corporation responsible for building the hall on Speedsville Rd., Cambridge.
Our family cottage was purchased on McCullough Lake, Williamsford, Ont., in 1965. As children we were ever so privileged to enjoy cottage life. Wilf would spend his spare time at the cottage. Once retired he lived there throughout the summer months. Experiencing the calming waters & beautiful sunsets never got old, definitely Wilf's happy place! The family cottage was sold in 2023.
Cremation has taken place, entrusted to Barthel Funeral Home, Cambridge. Wilf will be laid to rest at Parklawn Cemetery, Cambridge, and interred with Arlene.
As per Wilf's wishes there will be no funeral. The immediate family will gather at a later date for interment and to celebrate Wilf's life.
Those who wish to honour Wilf through a charity may consider a donation to Alzheimer's Canada, MS Canada, Diabetes Canada, or another charity of their choice.
