When I first started working at the hospital, I had the pleasure of meeting this beautiful lady. She was such a kind and gentle person. I will always remember her fondly.

My heart breaks for Grammy’s family and all those who loved her. I’m thinking of you all and sending so much love during this difficult time.

Grammy wasn’t just a title reserved for her grandchildren. She was “Grammy” to so many of us, myself included, and she truly filled that role.

When I think of Grammy, I think of a woman with class, strong values and traditions, who cared deeply about her family. She never forgot a birthday or an anniversary. She kept traditions alive and had a way of setting a standard simply by the way she lived.

Some of my favourite memories are simply being in her home. There were always wonderful meals, baked goods for dessert and coffee or tea. Her Skor squares and blueberry pies were my favourites. It took me quite a few family meals before I learned exactly where everything belonged when it was time to clean up — because at Grammy’s, everything definitely had a place.

Going to her home on Christmas Day became part of our family tradition for many years and something we always looked forward to. It was always a special time full of love. It’s a tradition that will be deeply missed.

The last time I saw Grammy, she came to visit us with  Ron and Princess. It was a short visit, but such a nice, relaxing one. We watched some Baylen Out Loud, talked and caught up on life. I didn’t know it would be the last time I saw her, and I’m especially grateful now for that quiet little visit. 

Grammy raised wonderful children, who went on to raise wonderful children of their own. When I look at the family she leaves behind, I can see the influence of the values and traditions she carried throughout her life. In many ways, that legacy is part of the reason I have Pat and the family I have today. She helped shape all of it over so many years, and I feel very fortunate that I got to be a part of her family and call her Grammy.

She will be deeply missed and very fondly remembered. ❤️

To Carla and the Family,

I have nothing but fond memories of your mother (and your family).  Your Mom was a force of nature- she worked and cared for you.  She always welcomed me and fed me!  Carla, how many times did we sit at the table in the kitchen while your Mom was preparing food  over at the kitchen counter- often in her work outfit.  I wish you a comforting time of remembrance and I am so sorry for this incredible loss.
