Don was born on September 3, 1939 in Saint John, NB to the late George Redstone and the late Mildred (Sage) Redstone.
Don worked at ICI/Pioneer (Dalhousie) for 37.5 years and retired in July 2000. He was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. In his early adulthood, he was an active member in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce. He was also an organizing member of the Boy Scouts (Restigouche District), holding several positions and responsibilities over 25 years. Don also supported and held positions within Saint Thomas Aquinas church, as Lay Reader and Auxiliary Minister of Communion for 35+ years. He was an avid collector of postal stamps and commemorative coins. Don was a loving family man that spent significant time supporting his family’s interests and endeavors, which included the outdoors, nature, camping, skiing and travelling to provincial & national parks.
Besides his wife of 54 years, Claudette, he is survived by his children Charles (Mary Capello) Redstone, Patrick (Christine Pineau) Redstone and predeceased by his parents and son, Michael Redstone. Don dearly loved and cherished his three granddaughters Nell, Norah and Emma. He is also survived by his brother, John Redstone, sister, Debby Josselyn, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral Mass for Don will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Campbellton on Friday, May 05 at 11:00 am.
The family will welcome family and friends at Maher's funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne St. in Campbellton on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, and on Friday from 10:00 am until time of funeral.
Contributions in Don’s memory can be made to the Friends of Healthcare Foundation, Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the donor’s choice.
