Dylan Alasuinu Barnaby

Born on April 17, 1993 in Ottawa, Ontario to the late Donna Isaac and the late Vernon Barnaby, Dylan was given his preferred name ‘Alasuinu’ or ‘Las’ after travelling home to the east coast when he was only a few days old.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Las worked as heavy equipment operator and entrepreneur. After graduating from high school he attended Atelier-Ecole les Cedres in Levis, QC and obtained his DEP, going on to work as a heavy equipment operator for several years before purchasing his own equipment and founding DB Excavation Services.

Las was a devoted father to his 6 year old daughter Mayvah Lily; the light of his life who truly had him wrapped around her finger. His greatest achievement was being Mayvah’s dad, and he was incredibly proud of her. He is also survived by his siblings Anna Isaac (Franklin), Eli Isaac (Missy), and Jesse Barnaby, as well as nieces Donna, Layla, Alona, Evelyn, nephew Kailum, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and his grandmother. He was predeceased by his parents, maternal grandparents and paternal grandfather, and many other beloved family members.

Las was generous, free-spirited, funny, and ambitious with a quiet strength and confidence that was magnetic. He was a doting father, great friend, loving sibling, and caring nephew, cousin, and grandson. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, his family, and his friends.

Let us be reminded of his wise words as we look to the future like he always did, “whatever you are searching for in life is searching for you…”

A funeral service for Alasuinu will be held on 4/17/2026 at 2:00 pm at Maher’s Funeral Chapel followed by a celebration of life and feast at the Listuguj Community Center.

Visitations will be held at Maher's Funeral Chapel, 64 Lansdowne St. Campbellton on Friday, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
