

Gladys was born in New Glasgow, NS, on March 3, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Emily (Misener) Dickson.
“Gladdie” was passionate about serving her community and was well known in the Campbellton area. She served as a City Councilor in the 1970’s and on several provincial boards and commissions. She was a trained opera singer with a lifelong passion for music and was a respected music teacher and director of community choirs. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and her closeknit circle of friends.
Gladys is survived by her daughters Jane Swan (Robert Young), East Garafraxa, ON; and Ann Swan- Boudreau (Ernie), Bathurst, NB. She was a much-loved grandmother to Jeremy Boudreau (Zhou Xue), Hefei, China; and Brett Boudreau, Bathurst, NB; and an overjoyed great grandmother to baby Elijah. She was sadly predeceased by her son David, his father Matthew Swan, as well as sister Alma (Harvey) MacLeod, and her brothers Doug (Betty) Dickson, and Leslie (Hazel) Dickson.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at The Chapel at Maher’s Funeral home on Saturday, August 26th at 11am, with a reception to follow. The family is deeply grateful for the care that was given to her during the last years of her life by the staff of the Campbellton Nursing Home and Bursey Towers. Her family is also extremely grateful for the loving care given to her by Gracie Firth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA or to the charity of your choice.
