John was born on July 7, 1937 in Montreal, QC to the late John Joseph MacDonald and the late Lauretta McDonald.
After moving to Campbellton, NB in the 1970’s with his family, (Wife Arline and son Cameron) — John worked as an accountant for the Restigouche Hospital Center, until 2001. He reinvented the meaning of the word“retirement” at age 66 — when he became the oldest “new” Walmart associate, at the store's grand opening in Atholville (2003 - 2014). John will always be remembered for his keen sense of humor, and his dedication to service above self — through volunteerism and fellowship with the Rotary Club, his community, and his family.
He is survived by his son, Cameron MacDonald (Campbellton,NB). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Hellen (MacDonald) and Mildred (Scofield).
A celebration of life event for John, will be held at 1 St Louis Lane (St Louis Lane Seniors Club) on Friday, October 30th — between the hours of 2 PM and 4 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared through donations to the Restigouche SPCA.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted in the care of Maher’s funeral Home, Campbellton.
