Joe was born on Monday, July 21, 1941 in Listuguj, QC to the late Mary Jane Jacques and the late Thomas Caplin. He was raised by his adoptive parents, the late Michael and Margaret Sark in Natoaganeg, NB.
Joe worked as a bus driver for the community of Listuguj for 45 years, safely bringing generations of children to and from school. Over those many years, he became a familiar and trusted presence in the lives of countless children and families in the community. His daily routes were more than just a job; for many children, Joe was part of their school years and someone they grew up knowing and seeing each day. His many years of service to the children of Listuguj were an important part of his life and something for which he will be fondly remembered.
Joe was also a big hockey fan and enjoyed following the local teams and his beloved Montreal Canadians. He also loved bowling and treasured the many friendships he made within the bowling community. Joe enjoyed playing 15 almost every Friday night with his good friends Rose, Isabelle, Lulu, Dolores, Monica, and others, and always enjoyed the time spent in laughter and good company. And anyone who knew Joe knew how much he loved his bingo! Whether it was radio bingo at home or going out to play, bingo brought him many good times, lots of laughs, and many friendships that he truly treasured.
Joe was predeceased by his wife, Doreen Sark. He is survived by his children Margaret Rose (JC), William (Gail), and Morley (Chalio); his grandchildren Mason, Hayley, Shaunessy, Justus, Brody, Madason, Rylan and Josh; and his great grandchildren Tyler, Alex, Mya, William, Ollie, Sky and Aubree.
Joe is also survived by his longtime partner of 23 years, Renee Girard. Renee and her children, Rubi and Anastazia Girard, were an important part of Joe’s life, and he held a special place in his heart for them.
He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and many, many friends.
Besides his parents, Joe was predeceased by his son Michael and stepson Willard, and grandson Michael.
