

Passed away peacefully at her home on November 5, 2022 at the age of 95, Mrs. Joyce (McCosh) Lutes of Campbellton, NB, wife of the late Rupert Lutes. Born July 20, 1927 in Chatham NB, she was the daughter of the late Flossie Belle (Heckbert) McCosh and Dudley McCosh.
Joyce moved to Dalhousie, NB, with her family when she was 5 years old. She completed her school years in Dalhousie and then graduated from the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital nursing program in Campbellton, NB in 1949.
Mom worked for many years as a dedicated and conscientious registered nurse at the Soldier’s Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and actively served on many church committees over the years. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, knitting, painting, playing bridge and was an avid reader until recent years. Mom was a hard worker who was always available to help a friend in need. She was an amazing cook and helped prepare and serve many meals at the Restigouche County Golf club and her church. She was well known for her amazing butterscotch pie! Mom was a blessing to many beyond her immediate family and will be dearly missed.
Joyce is survived by her 5 children; Bryan (Louise) Candiac QC, Barry (Marion) Riverview NB, Barbara Touchie (Eddy), Moncton, NB, Kathryn Irvine (John), Woodstock, NB and Rupert (Carol Ann), Tide Head NB, 13 grandchildren; Stephanie, Kristine, Carolyn (Bryan), Matthew, James (Barry), Jonathan, Jason (Barbara), Joshua, Jessica, Jordan (Kathryn), Jennifer, Melissa, Amanda (Rupert), and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Jacquie Powell of Owen Sound, Ontario, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Flossie Belle and Dudley McCosh, her husband Rupert (1996), and her sisters, Shirley Holland, Arlene Welch, and Mary Lou Bouthiette.
The family would like to thank Dr. Yacoub and the extra mural team for their wonderful care and dedication. Also, a special thank you to Arlene, Cecile, Darlene and Doris for the love and care given to mom and for helping us fulfill her wish of staying in her home.
A funeral Service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Campbellton on Friday, November 18 at 2pm with visitation from 1pm until time of funeral. A burial will follow at the Campbellton rural cemetery if the weather still permits it.
