Born on August 3, 1938 in Campbellton, NB she grew up in Dalhousie, NB. Marilyn was the child of Sarah and Weldon McCabe.
She graduated from Soldiers Memorial school of nursing and worked as a nurse at the Soldiers Memorial and later on at the Campbellton Regional hospital. In 1961, she married Gerald Roy, and together they built a life filled with raising a family, working on a farm in McLeods and faith.
Marilyn was known for her love of her children and grandchildren, her excellent devotion to her husband Gerald and her nursing career. In later years she enjoyed world travel with her daughters Lori and Susan, visiting her son Weldon and his family in California, and her daughter Jennifer and her family in Vancouver. She was a great badminton player, and she enjoyed watching professional tennis. In recent years she looked forward to her weekly volunteer time at the thrift shop in Dalhousie and up until the age of 86 was still playing badminton and cutting the grass at the farm. Marilyn had a great sense of humour; there was a lot of laughter in the Roy household. She was selfless and devoted to her family and we were blessed to have her as our mother.
She is survived by her daughters Susan Roy, Lori Roy (Bart Slotman) and Jennifer Connell (Leo), her brother William (Bill) McCabe (Theresa) and her sister Gael Montpetit (the late Rene). She leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Vanessa Roy, Karyne Roy, Benjamin Roy as well as Sarah Connell, Ryan Connell and Laura Connell. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald and her son Weldon (Manon) as well as her sister Winona Jenkins (the late Stan).
A funeral mass will be held on June 19,2026 at 2:00pm at St Thomas Aquinas church in Campbellton.
A reception will be held after the mass at The Campbellton Curling Club located at 2 Ritchie Street, Campbellton, NB starting at 3:30.
