Ralph was born on September 6, 1927, in Campbellton, NB, where he worked for CN Rail for 37 years. At the time of his retirement, Ralph and his wife Lodia moved to Beulah Camp, Browns Flat NB. They lived there and enjoyed the many friendships they made at Beulah and River Valley Wesleyan Church. In 2000 they moved to Retirement Miramichi community. They were founding members of the Wesleyan Church in Miramichi. He loved living in the beautiful Miramichi River area, home to his Irish ancestors when they first moved to Canada in 1805. After Lodia’s passing, he spent winters, and eventually moved to stay, with his daughter Sandi Tattersall in Perth-Andover.
Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Mary Loretta Curtis and Edward Howard Freeman Sullivan. He was also predeceased by his wife of 66 years Lodia (Benoit) Sullivan; his brothers Max, Lyman and Jim Sullivan and his sisters Mona Sullivan and Betty Roy. He is survived by his sister and best friend Lois Ellis.
He will be greatly missed by his children Carol Sanders, Sandra (Curtis) Tattersall, Curtis (Chaz) Sullivan, and Donald (Julie) Sullivan and grandchildren Christina (Patrick) Sanders, Brian Sanders, Jeremy Sanders, Emily (Kevin) Sanders, Joel Sanders, Adam Tattersall, Ashlee Tattersall, Alex Tattersall, Nicholas Sullivan, Jared Sullivan and Shanda Noel as well as his great-grandchildren Wesley Cormier, Hudson Cormier, Quinn O’Connor and Elliott Wolfgram and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ralph loved driving and having adventures as a young man by himself or with his family. He was a loyal husband and loving father. When we watch Toronto Maple Leafs or Blue Jays games we will think of him.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville, NB for their exceptional care and compassion.
