DEATON, Angela Louise (Hancock) Born March 29, 1955 to Herschel and Patricia (Smith) Hancock, Angela joined God and His other Angels June 6, 2015. The soul contained by Angela's small frame was immense. Every aspect of her personality was passionate and deep. Angela was: loving and devoted, kind-hearted and compassionate, intelligent and quick-witted, creative and artistic, outgoing and good humored, adventuresome and fun. For all of these facets of her beautiful soul, she will be sorely missed by many people she touched. Angela was a loving, devoted wife and companion to Warren C. Deaton,III (Ren) for nearly 27 years. Their life together was forged through a mutual love of the outdoors, many great adventures and a special creativity which they possessed and shared. In Ren's later years, when sickness struck, Angela's ability and desire to care for him, even as she worked, attested to the true care-giver she embodied. In Fact, it was only a short time after Ren's death in January, 2010 that Angela again exhibited her love, devotion and compassion in caring for her mother, until her death in December,2014. Angela's flair for life, creative ability and keen eye for perfection were exhibited throughout her life. Her talent was beautifully demonstrated across so many disciplines; Fashion Director, Fashion and Lifestyle Print Advertising Producer, Floral Design. Her deep spirituality and abiding faith led her to work at St. Matthew's Cathedral as Assistant to the Dean and as Registrar for the Catholic Center for Ministry Formation, and education/training she underwent in her effort to become a Deacon in the Episcopal Church. She finished her career as a professional Concierge. Throughout all of this, Angela won accolades for her genuine caring and treatment of others. Angela's creative talent, love of adventure, and equal sense of peace were evidence in her hobbies. Her home was exquisitely decorated, her suburban yard transformed into a private haven of serenity. She loved camping and fishing, while always in awe of the beauty God has provided. Angela also loved needlepoint, gourmet cooking, entertaining and always being in fashion. Angela was on the drill team at The Hockaday School, from which she graduated in 1973. This was followed by study in fashion and design at SMU.
