Carmen Aspiras Hernandez, 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday afternoon, January 2, 2019. Born Carmen Fangonilo Aspiras in Agoo, La Union, Ilocos del Norte, Philippines on April 12, 1938. She was the 2nd youngest of nine siblings from their beloved parents, Teodoro G. Aspiras and Ambrosia E. Fangonilo. She was survived by three siblings, all residing in California, six children and twelve granchildren. She survived two husbands, Adonis R. Lacho, Sr. and Saturnino Hernandez. She leaves behind her six children from Adonis, Sr.- Adonis, Jr. , Alan, Noel, Albert, Carolyn and Rowena; as well as her beloved grandchildren- Bryan, Ariane, Lisa, Aleah, Jasmine, Ian, Adonis, Kyle, April, Abrynn, Jernon and Alenah. She will be sorely missed. She has been the matriarch that kept her children together throughout their lives. She was their best example of sacrifice, strength and patience. She grew up in the Philippines and gave up the opportunity to be a Chemical Engineer to marry the love of her life, Adonis at the tender age of 22, on April 23, 1960, after they met in college. She was a stay at home mother for most of her life until she immigrated to the United States in the late 70s where she worked hard in the Silicon Valley area of San Jose, California until she retired. Until the end, "Mama Ching" or "Ching" has always maintained her amazing smile, hearty laugh and her love of singing folk or love songs. Equally, she loved to dance to entertain any audience to liven up any situation. As such, it has now have been passed on as the "Mama" dance to her grandchildren which effectively brings on uncontrollable laughters or questionable stares. She came to be known as "a sweet little lady" since her smile and courteous gestures disarm any awkwardness, even with her tiny stature. She fought until the bitter end; her final year was celebrated with her 80th birthday and a small family reunion. As her kind and loving nature always afforded, she made sure that all her children had a wonderful holiday celebration with their respective families before taking her final rest.
