CAMPBELL, MARY ANNE O’GRADY passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025. Born on March 12, 1935 and a native of Syracuse NY, Mary Anne settled in Farmers Branch with her husband (John) and young family in 1965. She began working for the Carrollton Farmers Branch School District in 1970 and retired after a 28-year career with the district.
Mary Anne is survived by her children, Cathy Huffman, Beth Davis, John Campbell III, Chris Campbell, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Eileen Rouche, Peggy Paige and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Catherine O’Grady, her loving husband of 55 years, John Campbell, great granddaughter Kate Huffman, sisters Kathleen O’Grady and Agnes Detomo, and her brother Patrick O’Grady.
Mary Anne was a devout Catholic with a traditional Irish upbringing who enjoyed participating in her guild at Mary Immaculate Church. She also found delight in an afternoon or two at the casino, as well as weekends with family and friends at their lake house on Cedar Creek. Her true passion, however, was centered around family and grandchildren. “Nana” attended thousands of ball games and school functions cheering on her grandchildren and supporting them in every way possible. “Nana” and “Papa John” were pillars in the stands who always greeted their grandchildren with a “great game” hug after every event. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who has left a lasting impact on all who crossed her path.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting to make donations to Mary Immaculate School where Mary Anne and Big John volunteered their services for many years during retirement.
Services will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 2800 Valwood, Farmers Branch, Texas, on Thursday – September 4th. Funeral 11:00 am. Rosary 10:30 am. A reception immediately following the service will be at the church.
